This magazine is very informative on how to prevent injuries, run faster and train for new types of races.
1 Star WARNING, DON’T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS SELLER
On 7/17/08 I bought a subscription via Amazon to the Runners World Magazine. As of today, December 16, 2008, I haven’t receive a single issue of the magazine, even thought they charged my credit card account for the amount of $20.00 on 7/17/08. When I contacted customer service I received an email with a single line:
Your order was placed through an independent sales agency and it will be necessary for you to contact them.
No names, no phone #. I am very disapointed. DON’T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS SELLER.
5 Stars I certainly recommend this magazine for all those runners or future runners.
Great magazine which helps keep me informed on all the latest running tips, techniques and nutrition recommendations. You can’t beat it for the low price.
The Tracy Anderson Method Presents Mat Workout DVD

The Tracy Anderson Method Presents Mat Workout DVD

After working for 10 years to develop my method, I have turned down every opportunity to have it reach the masses - until now. I have figured out an effective way to take everyone on the life-changing journey that my method has to offer. This DVD will help you to get the kind of results that I know you never thought were possible.
User Ratings and Reviews
5 Stars the Method
I feel the video was easy to follow and I got fast results without a lot of pain. I would recommend it to my friends!
1 Star Boring, Not Feeling It
I am 31 yrs. old, 5′9″, and 140 lbs. I quickly grew bored of this dvd and didn’t enjoy spending an hour with Tracy Anderson. She seems bored and appears to roll her eyes during the workout. She discourages users from doing any other exercises other than her dvds in order to achieve results. I like to run and do other things so I didn’t like the idea of limiting my activities. After doing it four times, I tried to motivate myself by doing it to different music, but after that, I lost interest. I could see a difference in my shoulders, but my arms never felt sore like Gweneth Paltrow talks about.
I like the workout designed by Jennifer Aniston’s personal trainer, Mandy Ingber. She uses yoga. In the past I was hesitant to do yoga, because I thought it wouldn’t give me a good workout, but I learned it really does and it feels good. Mandy Ingber and Jennifer Aniston did an interview together for Self Magazine which is available on Mandy Ingber’s site under “press releases”, along with a video she did demonstrating the workout. The results are obvious and I thoroughly enjoy it.
5 Stars Best workout ever!!!
This method of exercise is completely different from anything I’ve ever done. It creates amazing results! Thank you Tracy Anderson!!!
1 Star I Am returning this! It’s awful!
This Dvd is ONe Long DVD that has No OPTIONS. If you have to stop for any such reason, you cant get Back to where you were by Fast forwarding. When You Push Fast Forward it goes back to menu! So you have to watch it all Over again to get to where you left off. She explains NOTHING, and you have to keep watching her, Or You will be doing it wrong. I Looked away for a second Looked back up and she was doing something completly differnt, with not a word spoken. The standing abs section is a Joke. Basically her dancing around trying to look sexy. I agree with many other reviews i have read– No Instruction, No Options, and she Looks Like shes totally bored. I am Not Obese, and have been working out for over a year. I thought this would be a good addition to my normal work up to change things Up a Bit, but for $30.00 its a Joke. I have never spent that Much On a DVD before, and for that amount money it should not be as Lame as it is. The ONLy thing good about it is the music. I returned it today. I want a refund. I feel ripped off for buying this. Dont waste Your money- there are Plenty Good work Outs Out there- Like The Biggest Loser Boot camp & Yoga DVD’s . The Core Fusion is another good One. This one is Not worth the money.
4 Stars Pretty good but…..
This DVD does work; after doing it for 3 weeks, I can see noticeable results; the first week I could only do it 3 times, week 2 and week 3 I was able to do it 4 times each week; not all the way thru but I gave it my all. The problem with this DVD is cueing; she’s not very good at it and in certain segments, it doesn’t exist at all; she just changes exercises and expects you to be able to follow along. However, it’s not too difficult to catch up. She also doesn’t really talk about ‘proper form’; so you need to be familiar with exercising and your body. Other than that, it’s not bad. It makes a nice a change from yoga and the stairmaster and running!

5 Stars Wow OH Wow…….
You can’t believe what we put in our bodies……I had no idea how bad processed food had gotten………. A LIFESAVER BOOK………..LIVE LONG AND PROSPER WITH THIS BOOK
5 Stars Eat This Not That
Book
Eat This Not That
Splendid and remarkably complete tool for shopping and eating.
Contains many popular brands and compares clearly.
Highly recommend it for anyone who cares about what they eat.
5 Stars great resource for healthy eating
Take this handy little book loaded with practical information everywhere and use it…it is a great resource for parents, teachers, and kids…use it when eating out or take it to school and use it with students in your class. Build quick and easy lessons around healthy eating by referring to the pictures and logos in the book which are so realistic and colorful. The predictable format of the book ‘eat this’ (good choice foods) ‘not that’ (poor choice foods) makes it easy for anyone to read and navigate throughout the book. The other books in the series (for families, supermarkets, etc) are also useful…it makes learning how to eat healthy a more pleasurable experience and less taunting and complicated task. The best practical guide (reasonably priced) that I have found on healthy eating!!
5 Stars Eat This Not That
Book offers some great substitutions. Seller responded quickly and the book came as promised. Thanks.
5 Stars Never Leave Home Without It.
Eat This Not That! Supermarket Survival Guide: The No-Diet Weight Loss SolutionThis is by far the best book I have ever used. It never leaves my purse and I refer to it often while shopping. It might not cover every single item in the store, but it gives you the best information to make your own informed decision on the products that aren’t covered. A definite buy!
Cooking Light 2 year

5 Stars Excellent recipes & articles!
I have subscribed to ‘food’ magazines for over 35 years beginning with my first, Bon Appetit in 1970’s. I have subscribed to every major and some minor food preparation magazine out there through the years. I have a degree in Home Economics Education (now called Environmental Sciences), a minor degree in nutrition and I love to cook ‘wisely’ avoiding empty-calorie foods.
Making efforts to unclutter my life in recent years, I ceased all subscriptions with the exception of two: Eating Well and Cooking Light. Both of these publications have terrific recipes but also offer excellent articles on nutrition and health issues. There are great articles on various physical exercises (CL), herbal supplements and even wine. Each publishes an annual recipe book, but the articles from the magazine are worth the subscription if you are interested in all aspects of “healthy living” from food to skin care.
5 Stars A Pretty Good Gift
This was purchased as a gift for one of my granddaughters, who is an excellent cook. She gives it a two-thumbs up.
5 Stars The Lighter Side of Cooking
“Cooking Light” is an excellent magazine offering a variety of health tips, recipes, and travel suggestions. A couple of years ago, they did a special feature of a different “Top 10 Healthiest City”,from Boston to Portland,Oregon along with Seattle. There are exercise tips. Their vegetarian section has had recipes from greats like Marcus Samuelsson, showing off veggie dishes from his native Ethiopia. “Cooking Light” offers a healthful lifestyle in its pages!
1 Star Womans’s Day…?
This used to be a good magazine. Now it is filled with travel, beauty tips and exercise routines which are geared toward the women readers, as a male reader these are of no use to me. If I wanted Woman’s Day I would have subscribed to that…it’s cheaper…
5 Stars The best cooking magazine
I have been subscribing to this magazine for a number of years and it really is the best. Most recipes are easy to follow and you can feel good knowing that every dish you make is healthy. Even better, once you read the great articles and recipes, you can go to their website to read the recipe reviews and suggestions from other readers.

5 Stars Taught me a great deal.
Wow, she knows her stuff. I am thinking healthy already. I think this book will actually work.
5 Stars hilarious and fresh
what an amazingly simple concept that holds such power…this author is hilarious and frank in all the right ways…a quick read for me…I wish the recipes were separate (not mixed within text) and also wish the font was stronger (hard to read, especially in recipes)…can’t wait for the cookbook…this is a must-have for anyone wanted to get a grip on their health and eating styles…
1 Star Teaches eating disorder
This book teach you how to have eating disorder I didn’t see nothing naturally on it, I never have a weight problem , I choose this book for my sister but is not a good one and I don’t recommended.
1 Star lame and useless
Save your money! If you are struggling with your weight–there is absolutely nothing new or useful in this boring book. Her “earth shattering” advice in a nutshell is, Eat anything you want just take tiny bites and make sure you control your calorie intake so you don’t gain weight. Eat even less if you don’t exercise to compensate because not all naturally thin people like to exercise. ?? I also found her “Bethenny Bytes” throughout the book to be laughable and out of touch with the real world. A totally useless and stupid book!
5 Stars Reality check…
It’s very obvious that the critics on this panel are not understanding the intentions and thoughts of the author of this book. First of all, the chapters are not contradictory towards one another, yet they are different options for specific occasions. For example, if your at a dinner party and have many choices, you can “taste everything, eat nothing”….if your at a nice restaurant, you can “have it all, just not at once”….get it?
You really have to “get” what the author is trying to tell you….and yes, she is a natural food chef, but she is obviously very human…if your overweight and looking for a diet book, your obviously not eating a lot of natural foods, so obviously the author is going to incorporate tips and tricks for dealing with junk food….such as Charleston Chew…basically if you MUST have something, look for junk food with fewer ingredients FOR EXAMPLE….Charleston Chew…I don’t understand how people misunderstood this and gave the book such bad ratings.
If you take a look at Bethenny, she has an awesome figure…and is truly skinny. So she is sharing what has taken her 20 years to figure out. She is telling you the truth…people just don’t want to hear it. She is telling you, if you WANT TO BE THIN….then her methods will make you thin….without depriving yourself of cravings and things you truly want to eat. She teaches you to balance your eating like Europeans do…I mean doesn’t everyone die to know how they are so much slimmer than Americans??? Ok, so there you go…give the book a read and truly read it a few times, as I did…and see for yourself…Taking 3 bites of steak or 20 bites of steak? I mean seriously, what’s the difference…she’s not saying to only eat 3 bites and no more food, she is saying eat the three bites and then have some other things too, so you balance out your meal. Makes total sense to me. Love love love the book….
Also for the critics who didn’t like her alcohol section, well, then just don’t drink alcohol and consider yourself lucky that you can have more desert. I mean, what is the negative here?
Like Bethenny would say….”get over yourself…”

5 Stars I LOVE it (but hate Jillian!)
This video hurt me, but I love it. Jillian knows just when to push you (and also knows when you’re about to turn off the DVD lol).
Does an excellent job of driving up your heart rate, and makes your legs turn to jello. Not for the faint of heart, but definitely for the determined.
5 Stars Awesome Workout!!
This workout is great! I have been trying to work on heart rate interval training to lose those last post baby pounds and this had me in zones 2 and 3 the whole time. The best part about this workout is that there is not a weight in sight. You use your own body weight which is very effective! I highly recommend this!
4 Stars Intermediate Level
I thought the workout would be super high intensity and level since its Jillian Michaels but I found it to be rather intermediate especially for people who often do high impact cardio.
Otherwise, good workout.
5 Stars Awesome!
I use videos 3 - 4 times a week and this is one of my favorites - along with the No More Trouble Zones tape. They are just the best workouts. The best part is that you get a great workout on day 1 because there is no choreography.
5 Stars Awesome as usual!
This workout is tough but do-able if you have been doing Biggest Loser type workouts. I am 40 lbs overweight but I can do this and I am seeing BIG results!

5 Stars Great price on Oprah magazine
I watch your sales for magazine subscriptions. This was about 20% cheaper than her own website and I received 2 full years. Great deal and arrived surprisingly quick.
5 Stars A magazine with a positive outlook
The best thing about Oprah’s magazine, like her show, is that it has an eternally positive outlook and is always looking for ways to improve things, whether it be an issue like world hunger or just finding a comfortable and stylish pair of shoes. It’s one of those magazines that makes me feel good when I read it. There are articles on clothing, relationships, decorating, food, beauty tips, dieting, sex, health and exercise, food, books, interesting people and more. The articles provide quite a bit more depth than most women’s magazines and I find them more relevant.
I’m a 60 year old woman and the magazine always has several articles that I’m interested in reading.
5 Stars Best magazine for women
I have had a subscription to O for the last two years and it is always a pleasure to get the monthly issue because its contents are interesting, varied and entertaining. After I read it I pass it along to the female members of my family who read English and they also enjoy it regardless of their age group.
5 Stars Great Deal
I bought subscription for my Aunt. It was a very good price for a two year subscription.
1 Star Not that great a magazine
Hard to recommend. Way too much advertising. Content wasnt all that interesting to me.

4 Stars Very Good DVD
I really enjoyed this workout, I workout about six times a week for an hour and thought I would find this workout super easy (especially the level 1) I was pleasantly surprised that it is difficult and incorporates activities I have been neglecting in my workouts (like push ups). My only qualm is that it is only 20 minutes (at least there are three 20 minute workouts so you can theoretically do more)but I would prefer a 45 minute workout. All in all though I think this workout is really good, though I will do it in conjunction with about 45 mins on the elliptical just to get the calorie burn up. I would say that the difficulty is on par (if not slightly more difficult) with most of the turbojam workouts. I would definitely recommend this DVD!
5 Stars No pain, No gain
I found this program on cox cable and was excited. I have been on yo-yo diets and thought this is it, I have got to get this right. I did this workout for 5 days straight and on the fifth day I was able to make it through the entire program, okay I made it to 25 min and then thought I was going to collapse. My thighs hurt so much that I could barely walk down the stairs (hahahaha). It was all worth it. I decided that I had to have this video because it is only on cable for a limited time and then a new program starts. I am glad that I was able to get it this. You will not be disappointed.
5 Stars Great!
This product was shipped to me on time without any defects. I would buy from this seller again.
5 Stars Awesome
This workout video was just what I was looking for. High intesity in a short amount of time. When you don’t have a lot of time to workout this is perfect! I hope her other videos are like this one. Level three is the hardest but also my favorite. I worked out moderatly before this. Did level one the first 5 days level two for 4 days then moved up to level 3. It gets you sweating that’s for sure!
5 Stars Kicks your butt!
I really have enjoyed this video. I am not very fit at all so level one (there are three total) kicks my butt! I honestly have a struggle just to make it through the entire 20 min workout. But it is a good struggle. I feel refreshed after her workout, though tired as anything. If you are serious about wanting to get into shape than this is a GREAT video to try. Each level is 20 minutes in length and gives you a great workout. She incorperates arms, legs, abs, strength, and cardio in each level to give a total body workout. She also keeps you motivated and with each move only being done for about 30 seconds it keeps you from getting tired of doing the same move for too long. I have only done this video about 4-5 times and I am already seeing a big difference in my endurance.
Master Your Metabolism The 3 Diet Secrets to Naturally Balancing Your Hormones for a Hot and Healthy Body
April 26, 2009 by Fitness · Leave a Comment

Does it feel as if you’re fighting your body to lose even one pound—or just to maintain your current weight? Respected health and wellness expert and bestselling author Jillian Michaels has been there, too. So she consulted top experts in the field of metabolism and discovered that she’d inadvertently been abusing her endocrine system for years. After “fixing” her own metabolism, she decided to share what she learned by devising this simple, 3-phase plan that engages all the weight-loss hormones (including the friendly HGH, testosterone, DHEA; and the not-so-friendly: insulin, cortisol, and excess estrogen).
In Master Your Metabolism, discover how to:
•REMOVE “anti-nutrients” from your diet
•RESTORE foods that speak directly to fat-burning genes
•REBALANCE energy and your hormones for effortless weight loss
Michaels offers a wealth of information throughout, including: shopping lists and online shopping resources, hormone-trigger food charts, how to eat “power nutrient” foods on a budget, smart strategies for eating out, quick and easy recipes, as well as mini-programs for addressing PMS, andropause, metabolic syndrome, PCOS, and menopause.
User Ratings and Reviews
4 Stars Ok I’m half way through but so far so VERY good
I am an exercise science undergrad and have been learning more and more about nutrition after I began changing my shape from obese to athletic shape 5 years ago.
This book has some really interesting information on the biological effects the food we eat has on the body but, even for me, who is studying a lot of this stuff, it gets a little bit heavy at times. However, I like the fact that the information is there, when I “digest” the information further, I will probably go back and read through each hormone and its function and factors that affect it more thoroughly. So its not wasted information - it just is sort of top heavy - when you want to get to the plan and suggestions, there’s a lot of “learning” up front.
For me, I don’t think there is anything really amazingly *new* in her book that those who don’t read Women’s Health and/or keep up to date with latest nutritional findings will know but it’s a really decent guide to the effects of some of the things we KNOW we shouldn’t be eating (at least on a regular basis) all in one place. I think to a complete newbie on the world of nutrition, they will be completely terrified by her “rules” but if you are like me and have already made certain commitments to healthy living but are either stuck in a rut / plateau and feel like your body doesn’t seem to want the same things you want (i.e., for you to look lean and good!) then this book gets your head back in the right mindset.
As I said I am halfway through but every time i pick up the book and read another chapter, i am more inspired to take Jillian’s advice and tips as far as I can feasibly in my life. And that’s really the score here - its not always feasible to cut out everything she suggests but its good to know what you should definitely cut out (high fructose corn syrup, for example) and what you should keep an eye on (alcohol, even tropical fruits!). She is very good at being reasonable about these things. She knows we want a drink with friends and doesn’t say NO means NO.
Finally, I want to say, I don’t know if she wrote the whole book or co-wrote it with a lot of experts but what I do find nice, especially if you are fan of hers, is that her essence and her motivational abilities really come through in the writing.
3 Stars not in top shape for kindle
the type is faint and too tiny. this needs work to get into shape. i did enjoy what i could see. go oldschool on this book.
5 Stars Weight is finally coming off after months of ZERO!!
FINALLY seeing progress again! Wasn’t sure to purchase this book or not but the points seemed to fit my situation to a ‘T’ so I gave it a shot.
I’m not an organic person and never avoided anything processed before. So this is all a HUGE jump for me.
Let me first sum up my situation: Lost 50 pounds in the last 2 years and still need to drop another 50 pounds. I was eating between 1200 and 1400 calories a day and working out EVERYDAY for 45 minutes cardio/weights. I was doing everything right and everything that went in my mouth went in my food journal. There was no cheating and no excuses. According to my calorie intake and calorie burn I should have dropped 2 pounds a week consistantly. And every week when I got on the scale it was up 2 pounds or didn’t move! Total frustration and wanted to just SCREAM!
Then I see this new Jillian Michaels MASTER YOUR METABOLISM and the point of the scale not moving no matter how good you ate and how hard you worked out. HEY what did I have to lose!?
So it has been 10 days on her program and sticking to it faithfully and the weight is just pealing away! Down 8 pounds in just 10 days, like my body has finally said “OK… time to let it go”. I haven’t changed my workouts, they are still constant. I am following her main guidelines for eating and am consuming WAY more in volume of food and the calories I’m keeping at the 1200-1400. I feel soo full, never craving any junk. And I think, no way I’m going to lose weight because I feel soo bloated but in the morning…. the scale shows another drop!
It works for me and I’m not going to go back! 3 months of perfect work and no results VERSUS changing to a healthier eating plan and more food volume with RESULTS! Took about 5 days before the scale and my body agreed to start releasing the pounds.
5 Stars Absolute *Must read* if you have hormones, metabolism, PMS issues.
Jillian’s book (Master your Metabolism) is incredible. I’ve read countless books, and often nodded my head (yeah I knew it all) - but this… Master Your Metabolism has (so far) blown me out of the water.
I’ve been completely shocked at a lot of what I’m reading. I’m half way through so far and wasn’t going to post until I had actually implemented it 100%, but I felt I had to comment now after reading a few of the negative posts. (Everyone’s entitled to their opinions - but I felt the need to dispel some points).
I think some are completely missing the point… perhaps not actually reading the book (and basing it on the reviews or synopsis as some have admitted), or aren’t taking it in logical stance. (Which seems to be the only bad comments are from those who downloaded it on the kindle rather than buying the full size book with charts, etc.)
1) If you are of normal weight and think this isn’t helpful - Most of us reading this are NOT and are dealing with the exact issues Jillian (and others) have… PMS issues that doctors can’t find answers for… metabolism issues they refuse to look further into (cuz you know, we’re likely just gorging our faces even though we claim we’re not and we’re lazy… )… knowledge is power, and if you’re facing ANYTHING related to hormones and metabolism (very specifically, trouble losing weight!) then this is a MUST READ
2) Frankly while the aspect of eating healthy is a given, MUCH of the information was NOT well known to the extent she’s gone to give it. (Do you know how hard it is to get a referral to a half decent doctor who WILL look further and not brush you off here in Canada anyway?? Often they won’t even look further no matter how much you beg and plead, they tell you to lose weight and you’ll be better. Yeah - DUH… thats why many are seeking help!)
I consider myself to be quite knowledgable on the aspect of healthy food etc. after everything I’ve done and tried and read, but if you’ve ever struggled with weight loss after working out 1-2 hours *per day* faithfully and had it crawl (when you ARE eating perfectly etc etc), and (like Jillian) suddenly gained 10 pounds back for no reason, then this book is absolutely excellent.
Regarding the comments of those who are complaining about Going off the “anti” stuff (okay I’m half way into the book so haven’t totally gotten to that point yet) - frankly is just common sense. If you NEED it, you don’t go off it especially without seeing a dr. first.
Example: I take Claritin sinus for 2 reasons - a) antihistamine - I can’t eat fresh fruit or veggies without it or my throat itches like crazy… b) I was told by my doctor to take the claritin sinus regularly because I’m very prone to sinus infections due to mold/seasonal allergies. So its - I take the antihistimine to be able to eat fresh fruit/veggies… or I get none and have to cook it all (which loses nutrients… salad doesn’t cook well LOL)
If a person is on antidepressants or something that a dr prescribed, they should use their best judgement and incorporate things one at a time… Even Jillian at the beginning of the book very clearly states, use it all, use only some - its your call. (Not her exact words, just paraphrasing).
Eat healthy. Get started. Take control of your life - then gradually you’ll likely be able to get rid of those other things (anti…) And if not, then that’s that.
My point is, Jillian makes it very informative - like anything should be - so you can make an informed decision.
You wouldn’t have a surgery without knowing the risks, etc. - so why on earth would you complain because she recommends going off some of these things? The choice is ultimately yours, by weighing the pros and cons, by working with your dr if needed, and by improving your overall health. (It’s a known fact that many people who are obese or overweight DO go off of many medications once they lose the weight).
Eat healthy, organic as much as you can - its not always possible, but the point is - even eating fresh fruit/veggies/, etc., eating healthier foods even not organic is far better than the chemical laden packaged foods that most of us had NO idea what was seriously in them (even though we thought we understood).
Did you know there were so many different names for MSG? I certainly didn’t! Did you know that some colas (Hint: Even a bottle of gingerale I had in my house for when someone is sick!) contains that BPA(?) chemical that in the sun turns cancerous! EEK!
You think carbonated water and sugar… Most of us have *no idea* what’s truly in the things we eat/drink. This book is an incredible eye opener.
The 6 Week Body Makeover is a great program… I lost the 30 pounds then gradually gained most back… now I know why: while they were on the right track, they totally missed how hormones actually affect you and your metabolism. Several foods the 6WBM “banned”, Jillian is okay with, in moderation of course.
If you use your brains and logic, but gradually implement this, I bet you’ll see a huge difference. I’m half way through the book, beginning to implement, and looking forward to some improvement in my overall health.
Jillian is giving the info *beyond* info to help us tackle everything holding us back.
I haven’t yet bothered to recommend a book on Amazon - but this book should be absolutely everywhere. And no, I’m not a fanatic;) - just finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, finding that there’s actually some legitimate hope, that I’m NOT at my whits end for no reason.
If you don’t own it - buy it - hard copy. Devour it. It’s worth ten times the price in information.
