5 Stars Wickedly Awesome!!
I love this DVD! The workouts are fun and Bitches keep it interesting and entertaining, the time flies by and it keeps you wanting to come back for more. I used this DVD almost everyday and followed the guidelines set out in their Skinny Bitch book and my fiance and I both saw results in me after only 1 week!!

1 Star borrrrrrring
first of all the quing was non-existant. 2nd that blond made it sound like it was a tough workout and she kept complaining how bad it hurt. puleeeeese leslie sansone is tougher than these girls.and you can tell they are not experts in there field of employment. if you like complaints and lack of knowledge then please buy this dvd. if you want a real workout pick something else.

5 Stars Great Workout!
I saw this series advertised on the Tyra show and ordered it. I luv the workout and it does really give results if you stick to it!

4 Stars Great!
The skinny Bitches DVD was what I expected. The “instructers” are not professional trainers, but they still work you out. In the beginning the talking and comments they made were funny, now its a bit annoying so I workout with the volume off. I have to say that I do enjoy the workout.

5 Stars GREAT WORK OUT
These two ladies are awesome! I loved there natural way of presentation and the ability to just go with it. This might not be the hardest work out but you can pump it up or down according to your physical fitness. Kudoos to them for all of their creations!

Desperate Housewives The Complete Third Season

September 21, 2009 by Fitness · Leave a Comment

Desperate Housewives The Complete Third Season

After the second-season Desperate Housewives took the misguided direction of splitting apart its five principals, the third season was a comeback for the ladies of Wisteria Lane with some sparkling moments and a more engaging mystery. Following the previous season’s cliffhanger, Mike (James Denton) was not written out of the cast after all, but left in a coma. Susan (Teri Hatcher) keeps a vigil at his bedside and meets Ian (Dougray Scott), a handsome and rich British man keeping a similar vigil for his wife. Newly single Gabriella (Eva Longoria) meets an unexpected admirer, while Edie (Nicolette Sheridan) finds unexpected family–and an unexpected beau. The season’s primary mystery revolves around Bree’s (Marcia Cross) new husband, Orson (Kyle McLachlan), who turns out to have some skeletons in his closet–including one he shares with Mike–and some women in his past that he wishes had stayed there (Valerie Mahaffey and Dixie Carter). We no longer see Lynette (Felicity Huffman) in her office; rather, the emphasis is on Tom’s (Doug Savant) new “dream job” of opening a pizza parlor and the financial and personal conflicts that arise from it. The mystery is resolved unusually early, leaving the rest of the season to weddings and a shock ending. Even if a few scenarios were a little too obvious going for the emotional hot buttons (a hostage situation at a supermarket, a forest encounter), the writing and the cast were so good that we didn’t mind being taken along for the ride and still found the moments moving. Huffman was the season’s standout and accordingly scored the cast’s only Emmy nomination, but everyone was in top form (including Cross, who was sorely missed when her real-life pregnancy knocked her out of a number of late-season episodes). Bonus features include featurettes on Eva Longoria and the season’s weddings; clips from Amas de Casa Desesperadas, the Spanish-language version of the show with a different cast; a season recap; Marc Cherry’s favorite scenes; eight deleted scenes with commentary by Cherry; and a blooper reel. –David Horiuchi

5 Stars I’M IN LOVE WITH THIS SERIES
Prior to purchasing the first four seasons of Desperate Housewives I had never watched any of the episodes on TV. By the commercials I had seen though I had a feeling it would be something I’d like. Recently I’ve taken the time to watch all four seasons and I’m chomping at the bit now waiting for Season five. I don’t know how I’ll make it all the way to September!!!

This show is different than most, at least to me. I thought it was going to be more of a “Soap Opera” type but it’s more of a drama with comic undertones. It’ll make you laugh mostly, make you cry sometimes and make you sit there with your mouth hanging open thinking “I can’t believe she did that!”.

I find this series thoroughly enjoyable and addictive!!

5 Stars Brilliant
Another brilliant series of Desperate Housewives. Better than series 2 and at least as good as series one.

In this series, Gabby and Carlos are divorced. Gabby is dating Victor, a poletician and Carlos is dating Edie - but are they still in love with eachother? Another tough series for Bree as her new husband Orson may be a serial killer, and somebody attempts to murder Bree herself. Lynette and Tom open a pizzaria called “Scavo’s” and Lynette has some desvistating news in the climax of the series. Susan must deal with Mike coming out of his coma and not only having no memory, but beliveing Edies lies about their relationship.

Another great series of the show.

2 Stars Seasons of Desperate Housewives
Exactly as expected. Needed to get caught up on some of the story lines.

4 Stars Great service, great series
My order was delivered very promptly, in perfect condition and I’m just about through a very enjoyable series of Desparate Housewives.

4 Stars Desperate to see more…..
The actors have kept this fresh and interesting…or more properly should I say the writers have? Let’s just say it is both. The intrigue is just campy enough to keep you wanting another episode, and oh, they tried another male actor for a narrator and it falls flat. (We need that friend who “offed” herself as the narrator for continuity).

I will anxiously await and definitely purchase the next season.

Richard Simmons Disco Sweat

Richard Simmons Disco Sweat

Studio: Gaiam Americas Release Date: 04/09/2002

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Going to Goodwill
I had high expectations for this exercise DVD. I generally like Richard Simmons (or at least tolerate him), but this routine was lame-o. The moves themselves are easy enough, but probably geared more for the over 50 set (not an insult). Simmons is all over the place with the choreography and seems to be making it up as he goes along. There is no warning for step changes - he just does his own thing and expects you to read his mind. I’m afraid this was a waste of money and since I can’t return it…it’s going to Goodwill!

1 Star Sad
Bad, bad dance moves by a group of people who should stick to walking. While I applaud Simmons’ efforts to get obese folks up and moving, I found him extremely hard to follow. He is not a good leader as he is stiff and gives almost no heads-up on the coming moves. I am in shape and fairly coordinated, but found this to be extremely frustrating. I really have no idea who this would be good for and would not reccomend to anyone. Please do not waste your money on this one!

4 Stars Good Workout
I had already had the Richard Simmons ‘Sweatin’ to the Oldies’ - so I already had a good idea what this would be like - again, another workout with music we all know, easy steps, participants who are normal (not perfect bodied dancers or acrobats!) - I have a lot of fun doing this routine - so does my 17 year old daughter and I sure sweat a lot!

4 Stars Disco Again!
this dvd is a faster paced workout, much like sweatin’ to the oldies 3 and 4 were. it takes place in a disco club. only 4 stars for having a dj instead of a band. otherwise as good as simmons others! =)

1 Star worse one yet
the disco sweat was the worst one, i tried from richard simmons. he did not explain the dance moes, or go to a slow pace to start out with. I did not put up a sweat at all ! it was like just flopping your arms and hands mostly.

the best one is swatn to the oldies two. he great. I give that a ten. he explains and does more differnt things than dance with all your body movements. he uses differnt things to help you get into shape at the right pace. my doctor says that is the best one , because it does cool downs, streching, and helps your body totaly. for get the disco sweat

Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies

Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies

Studio: Starz/sphe Release Date: 09/11/2001 Rating: Nr

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars great for begining
Its a great video to learn some of the posses of Yoga. I would recommend getting another video as well or schedule a class as this video doesn’t do much beyond teach you the poses. I find it hard to continually do yoga to it but I do go back to the video to make sure I am doing things right. It is a relaxing and informative video. I highly recommend it to anyone starting yoga or thinking of doing it.

3 Stars Good explanations, easy to follow
I was hunting for yoga DVDs for persons with various disabilities, for older, fatter people, for people with knee problems, that sort of thing. This DVD is not advertised to be that DVD but I was able to do most of the poses. In it the instruction goes through 12 yoga poses. She emphasizes you can do all or one or a few, your choice. Her explanations are excellent and she offers occasional suggestions if you find them difficult. It wasn’t exactly what I needed but I can see working it into my regular routine as one option, adjusting as needed.

4 Stars GREAT FOR BEGINNERS!
My husband and I wanted to start doing yoga and knew absolutely nothing about it. “Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies” is great! It takes you through twelve basic yoga poses and describes your posture and breathing technique for each pose. It’s slow enough so it doesn’t leave you behind. The instructor give you tips along the way to modify your poses too, if your too restricted to comfortably do some of the poses. This workout may get boring after you’ve practiced through it several times, but for a beginner, still a great one to start with.

5 Stars Fantasitic!
This DVD is great, and Sara Ivanhoe is a great instructor. The basic 12 poses are well taught, and the intermediate section really kicks it up a notch. Its nice that there are ‘easy’ alternatives to most of the poses for those who have health issues, or are uncomfortable in the beginning. I highly recommend this DVD!

3 Stars OK DVD - Yoga is not for me
I tried this DVD because I hear so much about yoga and I wanted to try it. It was definitely a good instruction video and stuck to it’s name of being “For Dummies”. If you’ve done yoga before and are looking for a new workout - don’t do this one. It would even get pretty old after doing it a few times as a beginner. I would definitely rent it as an introduction to yoga and if you like it, buy a better yoga DVD. As for me - I discovered I just don’t care for yoga. So even though the instruction is good and it is very basic for dummies like me, I just plain didn’t care for yoga.

Kathy Smith Lift Weights to Lose Weight Vol 1 2

Kathy Smith Lift Weights to Lose Weight Vol 1 2

Studio: Lions Gate Home Ent. Release Date: 09/16/2008 Run time: 120 minutes Rating: Nr

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Didn’t Recieve
After several promises that the video was on it’s way we still have not received it, it is several weeks overdue and we’re losing hope that we will ever see it. We will not deal with this seller again!

5 Stars Unique weight training routines to keep you movitated
This is an excellent way to strengthen and tone your body for both women and men. I have just recently discovered Kathy Smith’s programs and this is one of my favorites! Her technique is unique in that it’s high reps, followed by pulsing, then additional high-reps and she uses circuit training where she switches from one body part to another without rest. She makes it so fun and easy. There’s lots of variety and options on this 2-DVD set that you will not get bored. You can easily mix and match for a short or long workout. There are two levels: beginner and intermediate and you can follow either one.

Here’s what you get:

2 separate upper-body workouts, 20 minutes each

2 separate lower-body workouts, 20 minutes each

1 Core workout for abs and back, 10 minutes

1 abs workout, 10 minutes

Stability Ball workout, 20 minutes

Bonus: tips for great posture

You will need a set of weights: light, medium, and heavy + a balance ball.

Please check my other workout and yoga DVDs on Amazon.

5 Stars Awesome work-out DVD
Kathy Smith is the best. I have almost all of her work-out DVD’s. This one is perfect if you don’t have a lot of time to work-out. Twenty minute work-outs!

4 Stars Didn’t love it at first
At first i hated this DVD because Kathy Smith makes you work HARD. Over time as I became more familiar with the routine i really started to like it.

You get two DVDs with workouts for both the upper and lower body and there’s a hard version and a standard version of every move so you can tailor the workout to your skill level. You also need a few sets of dumbells and plenty of space to get the most out of the workouts.

With this DVD I’m getting good tone in my arms and legs and I really enjoy doing the workout.

5 Stars Great workout!
Excellent cueing, very easy to follow. This is a challenging and highly effective workout. It’s one of my favorites.

Billy Blanks Tae Bo Kicks

Billy Blanks Tae Bo Kicks

Studio: Gaiam Americas Release Date: 05/03/2005 Run time: 39 minutes Rating: Nr

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars It gets them MOVING!
My son is almost 10 and overweight. I bought the DVD to have something in the house to get him MOVING. And Billy Blanks is great! My son actually likes the DVD and some of the exercises are familiar to him from P.E. class. For an overweight boy it does the job starting out. As you go along you can always double step or increase repetitions if you need more intensity. It’s worth the purchase! Especially if you’re trying to incorporate an exercise routine and healthy habits.

5 Stars great exercise for the kids
I’m very pleased with this video. I wanted to find a form of exercise that would be fun to do together with my sons.

4 Stars Tae Bo Kicks - are High Kicks
I am an elementary physical education teacher and this video is great. It is very comparable to the first video Tae Bo Junior. Great for days when your gym is being used by others. In addition it is a great workout before and after long breaks. The kids really get into Billy!

5 Stars We love it!
What a great workout… it keeps my 4 year old going for at least a half hour, and I can work out right along next to her. We have fun :)

5 Stars Fun and a really good workout
I bought this video for my 6-year old daughter to help her get more exercise. I figured, if she’s going to watch tv, might as well make use of the time. She’s in taekwondo, so this video really helped reinforce the kicking and punching moves. (you don’t need to be in TKD to do this video)

What I loved was that they had lots of different kids. Boys, girls, younger, older, and some that had a little more chunk to them. It showed that any one can do it!

Bill Blanks is really motivating. It was nice to see him sweat too. I kept reassuring that you’re suppose to get hot and sweaty. That’s good! See, he is too!

My mother even is thinking about doing it too. It’s a nice workout.

5 Stars Fast and Easy.
I was very happy with my order. It was fast and easy to order. My order came within a few days.

3 Stars Jane Fonda Workout
Jane Fonda has some great workouts. This one didn’t meet my needs. It’s not that it’s a bad video, there’s just not enough ab workouts.

5 Stars Great workout for those with little time
I bought this DVD as an alternative to to other DVDs I have that all last for about 1 h. I have a working mum and don’t have time to finish them. Jane Fonda’s workout only take 25 min or so. Though they are short and easy to follow, they provide a good workout and do make my muscles ache afterwards.

If you are very fit and used to exercising a lot, these DVD might be a bit too easy for you. But for me they are great and I can fit them into my busy schedule.

5 Stars Jane’s workouts really do work!
I really like Jane’s workouts. The squats and lunges had my legs still a little sore the next day — so they really work. Glad I ordered this.

1 Star Very disappointing . . .
I only used this once and not again so it was money down the drain. I wish Jane Fonda did a work-out DVD like her old, original video work-outs, that were easy to follow, but worked great! I lost so much weight with those old ones when I used to do them in the early ’90s - they were old even then though - remember the ones with the leg warmers and the striped leotard? This one was difficult to follow and too complicated.

Cindy Crawford Shape Your Body Workout

Cindy Crawford Shape Your Body Workout

Studio: Gaiam Americas Release Date: 01/06/2004 Rating: Nr

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Cindy Crawford DVD
I ordered this item well over a month ago and this is the second review I had gotten to do to tell you I still Have NOT received this item. I know the mail can be slow…..but I don’t think it has even been sent yet!! Is this item available??? Just wondering!!

5 Stars got here two days early
i was so happy it got here early i used to have this on vhs and my little sister ruined it.. so happy to get it back.. its the best calm work out video ever

5 Stars It works if you do it properly
I first got this on VHS when I was 14 and started doing it every single day (the two alternating workouts). I had heard about people supposedly getting injured doing it, and was warned not to do it by friends, but I never had a single problem. I got into amazing shape, my cardio fitness was very good and I felt so good after each workout. My core strength and muscle tone were great.

At 18 I stopped, cause I got lazy, put on a lot of weight and at 28 have just started doing these workouts again. My tips to others would be: do as is advised and drink lots of water and rest between sets and repetitions; only do the number of repetitions you can manage without pain - don’t stress because it does get easier and you will be able to do them all eventually; and be sensible. Obviously if you throw your body around like it’s made of rubber you will hurt yourself. Do the exercises slowly and carefully, at least until your fitness and strength improve. If you find you cannot keep up with the pace of the video/DVD, just pause it until you can catch up and then resume watching.

These are great workouts you can do almost anywhere and it annoys me when people criticise it. Probably because it’s Cindy Crawford people find it easier to pick on it, but I have never been in better shape or felt better than when I did these workouts regularly.

5 Stars TEN STARS!!!
This is the best workout video I have ever done. And I have done a lot. Here are my reasons. Stated simply.

1. The workout feels good.

2. The videography is hip.

3. The music is real music, including “Crazy,” by Seal.

4. Cindy Crawford is HOT and more fun to follow than some of the cheesy instructors I have encountered on many a workout DVD.

4. There are 2 workouts to switch off every other day.

5. They are only 45 minutes, easy to fit it.

6. It is NOT CHEESY

Buy this. It is hard, it will make you sweat, it will make you feel good. A lot of the moves are ballet based from barre work, they lengthen and strengthen.

You will need a set of hand weights.

5 Stars Shape Your Body is a great workout
I have worked out with Shape Your Body since it came out about 20yrs ago and have to say this is one of the best most effective workouts that I have done! It will work every area and you will usually see great results within the first few workouts. This video needs to be added to every workout library!

Leslie Sansones Walk At Home 5 Mile Walk With Fitness Band

Leslie Sansones Walk At Home 5 Mile Walk With Fitness Band

Studio: Starz/sphe Release Date: 06/24/2008 Rating: Nr

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Another Great Workout
I have 11 of Leslie’s DVD’s. This is more of an advanced workout. I’ve been working out since Sept. ‘08 and was ready for a boost.

4 Stars Leslie Sansone 5-Mile Walk with Stretch Band
I think this video is great. I have several of Ms. Sansone’s videos and like to alternate them for variety. This is my newest addition, so it is still fresh, but the miles go so fast. I sometimes get tired of all the talk but it’s better than with no talk at all-which is an option on this one. I took one point off of my review because I exercise early in the morning so keep the volume as low as possible and I cannot hear the music! I have to be able to hear the music to keep the pace but when I turn it up the talking is too loud. This video would serve me better if the music and talk were at about the same level. Otherwise, TERRIFIC!

3 Stars misleading
Was under the impression that this dvd would be more challenging. I have been doing Leslie’s walk programs for quite sometime now and am looking for a more vigorous workout.

5 Stars 5 Miles and counting…
This video is nice to do any amount of miles. Combining walking with a fitness band is just plain smart! It is amazing how the inches come off when you couple the two together. Way to go AGAIN Leslie!

4 Stars Good workout but…
I wish I could give this 3.5 stars but it is definitely not the five I usually give a Leslie Sansone workout. Here’s why:

1. Leslie defines advanced workouts by speedwalking and jogging. I don’t. In fact, the walk boosters really take her workouts up a notch. I use a heart rate monitor and the two miles on this dvd without the walk boosters didn’t challenge me. I use this dvd for the three miles with the walk boosters. You gave it four stars because the firm band is included in the price. This is a savings of about $15.00.

2. The cueing in this dvd is not up to the standard I am use to with Leslie. I am not sure if it is because she is so excited to be walking with a new set of friends and her daughter is also in this dvd.

Bottom line: Good exercise routines…focus on three miles of booster walks. You will get a great workout.
