Eating For Life
September 22, 2009 by Fitness · Leave a Comment

Did you truly enjoy the food you ate today? Do you really like the way you look and feel? Are you consistently enjoying great health and high energy? Bill Phillips, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Body-for-LIFE, believes your answer to all of the above questions should be, “Yes!” He feels that food should be a source of pure pleasure. A source of positive, abundant energy! A “sure thing” in a world of much uncertainty. Phillips, who’s widely regarded as today’s most successful fitness author, has firm beliefs which go against the grain of today’s popular weight-loss methods. “Diets, all of them, are potentially dangerous, most always dumb and ultimately a dead-end street!” he insists. “Eventually, anyone and everyone who’s at all concerned with their health must learn how to feed their body, not how to starve it.” Instead, Phillips encourages a safe and sound solution which includes eating balanced, nutrient-rich meals, frequently throughout the day…

5 Stars Fabulous meals!
I love the recipes in this book. They are easy to make and very flavorful. Thanks!!!
5 Stars Eating for LIfe
The book was in the condition as promised and was mailed to me as promised.
5 Stars Eating RIGHT
I’m starting my 12th and final week of this program, and I just have to say that this program works, period. I consider myself athletic, a good body weight, and active, but I wanted to knock out a few pounds of fat. Not only did I go from 14% body fat to 7% in these 12 weeks, but I also have significantly greater amounts of energy now. I’m the guy who would eat a smoothie for breakfast, sandwich for lunch, sensible meal with my family at night, drink water all day, workout for 3-4 days a week. Even being ‘ideal’ body weight and active according to medical standards, I still improved and feel so much better after reading this and putting it into action. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to feel and look good, and have great long term health.
5 Stars WORTH EVERY PENNY
This book is AMAZING! It has awesome recipes that are really nutritious, are easy to make, and best of all taste GOOD! One of my favorite recipes is the Golden Pancakes. What? Pancakes in a health book you ask…and YES it’s TRUE… I mean where else can you find a pancake recipe as good as this and eat them guilt free! This book has changed my LIFE, hence the title, Eating for Life. Combine this book w/the Body for Life book and workout program and your body will thank you in return by looking hotter, and feeling better than ever! Thanks Bill Phillips for making people all around the world look good while still being able to eat EASY to make, YUM-O meals along the way!
5 Stars Best program I’ve ever done!
I’ve been using the Eating for Life program for several weeks and the results are unbelievable. Finally a program that is based on what we all know - you need to eat right and exercise more. Eating 6 times a day makes a huge difference, especially supplemented with protein. I would also suggest his book Body for Life which covers the exercise part of the program.

My Boys Can Swim The Official Guys Guide to Pregnancy

Finally?A Pregnancy Book That Won’t Put Men to Sleep — Review
User Ratings and Reviews
4 Stars Funny but informative
This book is a great addition to any couple that is expecting a baby. It is a easy read with lots of fun insight into the changes during and after pregnancy. My husband read this right away and it helped him to get even more excited about our pregnancy.
5 Stars Fun for him and Funnier for me!
My husband loved this! He is going to be a daddy for the 4th time, and this is my first! We have been trying for quite some time so the title in itself just made him laugh when I gave it him after we found out we were expecting! It’s a quick read and he will love it if he has a sense of humor. You must read it as well…it’s funny to see what men think about pregnancy (since it’s written by one). I found it to be hilarious! You must have an open mind and not be in a “pity me, I’m pregnant mood”. Totally great gift for a first time dad or a gag gift for those who have been trying to conceive! Great Title!
5 Stars Awesome way to engage a dad-to-be
My husband had a difficult time adjusting to the idea of being a father. I felt the transformation to mother the minute I found out I was expecting, but since my husband couldn’t see any changes it just wasn’t as real for him. I was so sick the first three months that I couldn’t handle a disengaged father-to-be too. I bought this book hoping it would help–and it did!
My husband read a section of the book to me each night before we feel asleep. It was a great way for us to bond and to re-connect after a day of saltines and work. The author’s voice and sense of humor was wonderful, and we often found ourselves laughing at his stories. Although it was as thorough as Sears and Sears, it was a great transition book for my husband.
4 Stars My kind of pregnancy book
Okay i’ll admit that I am not much of a reader, short attention span, distracts easily, video game nerd, whatever you want to call me i’ve just never had the stamina to sit down and enjoy a 600 page doorstop. This book keeps it short and sweet and I finished it in about two hours (at work with distractions.) I bought this book, and “Breathe: A Guy’s Guide to Pregnancy” because let’s face it, it needs to be funny for a person like me to stay interested in it. At 92 pages it seemed short, even for me but overall I liked the book and would recommend it to others.
Cons: production quality, the first time I opened the book the cover peeled away from the pages, I could read it but the glue holding that thing on was poorly applied.
4 Stars Good for Daddy’s who don’t really like to read about pregnancy
I got this for my husband in The Army, who was away for the majority of my pregnancy. I got it for him because I seemed like an easy read and it is filled with humor. I thought it was funny and explained some of the behaviors of pregnant women in a light funny way. For example, it says that your wife will fall in love with her OB doctor and anything they said must be followed. In my case true.
Your husband/Father to be won’t learn a great deal of actual facts about pregnancy from this book, but he will laugh and maybe understand the pregnant woman in his life a little better, hopefully.

The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding The Bible of Bodybuilding Fully Updated and Revised

Arnold Schwarzenegger hasn’t competed as a bodybuilder since he won the Mr. Olympia title in 1980, but he remains the sport’s No. 1 icon. He hosts an annual bodybuilding contest in Columbus, Ohio, and allows a column to be ghost-written under his name in a muscle magazine. Today’s bodybuilders may have bigger muscles than Arnold ever did, but everyone inside and outside the iron game gives him credit for exponentially broadening the popularity of physique training.
With this updated Encyclopedia (it was originally published in 1985), Schwarzenegger wraps his huge arms around the entire sport. He hits the history of bodybuilding, the champions (he’s quite generous in his praise of predecessors, contemporaries, and successors alike), the training systems. Some of the information is more bodybuilding lore than science; for example, exercises are said to “expand the rib cage” or develop the “inner” or “outer” chest, all physiological impossibilities. But they’re still good exercises, and the book includes every movement imaginable for every muscle group.
If you love the sport of bodybuilding, you’ll want this book in your library, if for no other reason than to feast your eyes on the hundreds of photos of the best physiques in the history of the sport. And, in a pinch, the 800-page encyclopedia can fill in nicely for a missing dumbbell. –Lou Schuler

4 Stars Bodybuilding
This Book is very well written and should be a must for any bodybuilders aspiring to potentially becoming recognized in Bodybuilding. Thank You Arnold for being an inspiration to so many people. Raymond Maher
5 Stars Anrold Schwarzenegger’s Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding
I absolutely love this book. There is a ton of great information in here. The book is a great resource if you find yourself searching for new exercises, or want to focus your training.
I’m about 99% certain that the majority of the bodybuilders pictured in the book are on the juice, but don’t let it discourage you.
5 Stars IT is what it says….an Encyclopedia, it covers EVERYTHING!
This was quickly delivered and in mint condition. It has been very useful so far and I’ve only read a very small part of it! I’m not personally trying to become a Mr. Universe or end up anywhere near that size, I’m after more of a Tyler Durden from Fight Club look but this book will help you with every aspect. It’ll help you determine your body type, the style of training to suit, exercise after exercise, how you should be eating…..the list goes on. If you’re into training to any degree really then I think this book will be able to offer you no end of guidance and information. A worthy purchase as far as I’m concerned!
5 Stars The Holy Bible of Bodybuilding!
I don’t like to type much or ever give reviews for that matter, but this product is one of the few products that i have to write a review for because its so good. This book is like a scientist, who is a bodybuilder (with a pHd in “the human body) wrote it. This book is the Holy Bible of Bodybuilding.
5 Stars The Only Workout Book YOU Will EVER NEED!
Another five star review. I have had to buy this book three times because I use it so much. Instead of buying all those diet and workout books, simply put the money out and purchase the book by the man who made it all happen. He puts this book together, so that no matter if you are a beginer or a professional bodybuilder and marathoner, you will be able to use it. Arnold discusses pretty much EVERY possible excercise and the benefits of it and what muscle groups it effects. He covers all the vital elements needed to build up, or tone down, lose weight, or even gain weight. Becaues Arnold has such a passion for this topic, it makes as a very useful reference guide. So much ‘useful’ information that you will catch yourself looking at it over and over and over. Put it to use and you will get results.

5 Stars Great Book!!
Very good book. I already work out so I started working out right away. I didnt stick to the plan religiously but visibly saw a difference in my stomach. Easy changes to make to your diet and I still stick to them now. My new favorite snack is almonds.
2 Stars The Abs Diet for Women
My first Amazon order, I love this book, but it came Media Mail which takes WAY TOO LONG! Ridiculous.
5 Stars Great gift to yourself and your body
This book is a healthy, no-nonsense approach to eating and changing your lifestyle, not going on a “diet.” If you can incorporate these 12 powerfoods into your eating habits and leave the junk alone, you will feel so much better. If is a wonderful gift to yourself and your body to change it for the better. I am a 47 year old female, and I have had 2 children. If I can tone my abs, arms and butt at this stage of my life, there is hope for all! I am especially proud of my arms. I love to show them off in the summer wearing sleeveless tops. Many women my age have those huge jiggly upper arms but mine are muscled to the point of curvy definition. Do the strength training 3 times a week to build your muscles and twice a week to maintain them. Any less than twice a week though, and you will quickly lose what you worked so hard to attain. Good luck!
4 Stars Worth the read
I have skipped around the chapters. This seems like a do-able approach to better eating and lifestyle for a mid-thirty something, that’s me, who has taken on a husband, a new biz along with my full time job and a dog. Once I have the time I plan to lay out this in a calendar and utilize the eating program as well as the exercise… and of course once the snow stops falling in the northeast! I’ve already begun walking and the smoothies… more to come
5 Stars shockingly wonderful!
I had a friend who had tried the Abs diet before and lost about fourty pounds. She also went to the gym seven days a week,so ofcourse I figured that’s what was making her weight drop.BUT I decieded to give it a try and after the first week I lost two pounds and only worked out about 3xs for 20-30 minutes. This book isnt a diet per say,it’s all the things you would want to know about what works for you body or against it.And it gives you a totally new perspective on what you are eating and how it will affect you,and what you can eat to take its place that tastes the same or totally better. This book is deffinetly worth reading.whether you choose to follow it or not, atleast you will now what is good for you.

5 Stars My 6th Favorite Health Book
This is one of the essential health books that every person in every country should have on their shelf. It should be of note that none of my favorite health books can be found in hardly any book stores at all, yet in my experience they clearly prove superior results. It should be of note that none of my favorite health books can be found in hardly any book stores at all, yet in my experience they clearly prove superior results.
This particular book stresses a homemade lemonade diet concoction made with fresh-squeezed lemons, organic grade B maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. Also included is a very effective saltwater laxative recipe.
5 Stars Best choice in my life
Excelent information. Thought was going to be difficult to do it. Prepare my self in advance. During the process you could feel the difference in your body with the desintoxication. Planning to do another one by the summer. The information in the book in well presented and is an unvaluable resource for those people that want to start a new style of life.
3 Stars Could it be true?
This book has information that I’ve been looking for for the past two years!!! But is it true??? I’ve yet to find out. I believe everything the book says but weather it cleanse you out as it claims it does is my question. I am going to try it and then give this book another review.
4 Stars The Original Master Cleanse
This book was very informative about the positive effects that doing the master cleanse has on your body… Great stuff. I was looking for, however, the book that gives you tips and helpful ideas that would help me to complete the “Master Cleanse”
2 Stars Be Leary
I jumped into this Master Cleanse diet without thinking of the harmful effects eating the same thing for 10 days straight can have on our bodies. I never experienced the increased energy, and I became very dizzy and weak for several days. I stopped it after 5 days. I don’t recommend this book or the diet. A 7-day fruit cleanse is a much healthier way to cleanse your body.

5 Stars Very Good Read
I really enjoyed Natalia Rose’s book on the raw food detox. It was very informative in regards to nutrition and how little nutrition is received with a “normal” diet. Somehow her approach to the “diet” and explanations about popular food/nutrition myths really rang true with me. I really liked that she was not a hard & fast “raw foodist” but gave a gradual progression to a raw food diet and left room for error, growth & personal preference. Many diets are not realistic and so a person loses interest, starts strong & gives up easily or does not even give it a try because they think “this way of life” is way out of their league. My plan was never to go completely raw food. I thought it would be a good way to start eating MORE healthy than I was and if I was only able to do it 50% of the time then that was still better than what I was consuming before. The author herself was a medium level raw foodist for several years before she made the transition on her own…that impressed me. This was a very real, very down to earth book that has a ton of great suggestions as well as easy recipes for everyday. I highly recommend & have recommended it already to several people I know.
4 Stars diet books
The book is easy to read and understand . It makes really good sense . A lot of the info you have heard of in different books but this one brings it together. I would of liked a little more info on the different foods listed in the different catigories. A more complete lists of quick exit foods and the right combinations .
1 Star Still haven’t received this item
It has been over 30 days since I ordered this product and still NO BOOK.
1 Star POOR SERVICE !
I paid extra money to have this book shipped to me quickly and it did not arrive early enough to match the amount extra I paid. Tried 2 or 3 times to contact the people selling it, they never did e-mail me back. This is the 3-4 time that I’ve written something negative about the experience and I still have not heard anything from anybody ! I gave a one star but if I could go back and take the star off I would !!!
TH
4 Stars a worthy successor to Fit For Life
So much controversy and reactivity over the ideas in this book! I love it!
After about 15 years of studying and experimenting with nutritional paradigms from the Zone to Body Ecology Diet (anything but Atkins) I’m always curious to see new takes on old systems and this book is a lovely and worthy successor to one of my favorite books on healthy living through good nutrition, Fit For Life. That book introduced me to the reasons behind eliminating dairy, practicing food combining, the energy ladder concept of eating, etc and this book takes those basic principles and brings them into a lovely 5-tiered program for slowly, joyfully and subtly shifting into a lifestyle that includes more and more living foods.
I wholeheartedly believe in food combining and the benefits of dropping things like dairy and soy, so this resonates for me personally via my own experiences with it…when I did all of thee above my asthma lessened, weight came off and my energy skyrocketed. I can’t argue with that. There IS science behind it all but at the end of the day what matters to me isn’t a medical journal’s opinion backing things up, it’s how I feel and the state of my health. I am vibrant, energetic and ALIVE when I follow these simple guidelines (yes, I know they are dizzying at first, but it becomes second nature). What’s nice about the food combining principle is the fact that by honoring even just that one concept, in general, I feel a difference of night and day. And over time, as you become more comfortable and adept, you can fine tune it further and further, and your body will let you know when that time is.
As for the Green Lemonade/juicing, it sounds fabulous and I will certainly add that in sometimes, but I find using Victoria Boutenko’s Green Smoothies to be what my body prefers. I know Natalia says that by eliminating the fiber you hydrate the cells more quickly, and that could very well be true, but again I listen to my body, and my wallet!
My trusty glass Osterizer does a bangup job of liquifying my pint of greens and fruit, but I will follow her lead of adding lemon juice and ginger.
As with any system, I suggest allowing yourself to adjust things to what you know works for you, but I also encourage you to be open to her ideas and recommendations. Yes, she allows things like fish, eggs, meat, etc but this is because she wants to make this approachable to everyone, starting from any level. And I think she’s quite right to say that you can address things like coffee, wine, etc later on…doing too much too soon can really knock you back and be counterproductive, I agree. I’ve experienced that myself.
If you are someone who is not open to concepts like food combining, eliminating dairy and soy, etc then this will not be something you’ll like or follow. But if you are willing to try these out and trust that perhaps the things we are told by the maintstream aren’t necessarily the healthiest choices, you could really tap into something special here. She’d made this as simple and enjoyable as possible, offering everyone from the Big Mac addict to a strict vegan a way to progress into a more balanced and energizing way of eating and living.
I’ve noticed people sniping about contradictions and I think they must be skimming, not listening. She says time and again that while she presents guidelines, it’s not an all or nothing deal. Yes, ideally fruits are to be eaten on their own, but you can mix them with raw veggies sometimes. I think the flexibility is great because it removes rigidity from the equation and makes these shifts less daunting.
She also addresses the inclusion of Splenda on her website; she clearly wants people to turn to natural sweeteners like stevia (my favorite), maple syrup, raw honey, etc but for Nutrasweet addicts at Level 5, that probably sounds unattainable, so she offers Splenda as a transitional compromise. If it keeps someone open to making a shift into something about life energy and vitality, where they can later drop that and go all natural, it’s really not such an abomination, and I am as ANTI artificial sweetener as it gets. Taking someone from gallons of Aspartame ingestion to stevia ain’t easy…Splenda is just a stepping stone. Ideally, you pass that up and go for the other choices, which are incredible and tasty.
Now as for people who feel she doesn’t have the credentials to back up her work, let me just say that I’ve gotten more sound guidance on health and nutrition from people who study it on their own voraciously than I have from any M.D.s. A degree does not make you an expert, believe it or not. The best personal trainer I ever worked with was a bodybuilder whose self taught knowledge of kinesiology and anatomy was astounding, no initials behind his name but a legion of clients who made incredible gains in strength and health safely under his guidance. Conversely, I worked with a trainer with an Bachelor’s and three certifications and she was awful. Degrees are lovely, but if you’re someone who needs to see special sequences of initials behind someone’s name to find their knowledge valid, move along to something else. There is a world of valuable information out there, but they don’t yet offer degrees on things like nutrition for higher vibrational frequencies, etc. Maybe they never will, but either way, this kind of lifestyle shift goes far beyond what can be taught in a college classroom; it’s a mind/body/spirit paradigm. Like yoga, there are aspects that can be handed down, and aspects that can only be experienced.
Bottom line, this is a program that really anyone, at any level of nutritional awareness can do and still enjoy life, and eating. And if you are someone who loved Fit For Life, like me, you will likely enjoy this natural extension of those teachings. The recipes are also very approachable, and that’s coming from someone who HATES to cook! LOL

The Relaxation and Stress Reduction Workbook New Harbinger Self Help Workbook

Although the sheer size of this dense workbook might cause initial hyperventilation–280 full-size sheets of text–take heart (and a deep breath!): the many self-assessment tools and calming techniques presented in this fifth edition can help overcome anxiety and promote physical and emotional well-being. First introduced in 1980, the book received praise for presenting a comprehensive look at stress, its physical manifestations, and the multiple ways it can be managed. Twenty years later, its well-organized chapters on breathing, relaxation, meditation, thought stopping, and body awareness still guide the reader through copious self-help techniques to try and, eventually, master. Other chapters, including job stress management, goal setting and time management, and assertiveness training, focus on daily scenarios people often find distressing. Lessons in identifying key elements that trigger unpleasant responses and in reacting differently to these elements are designed to defuse perceived conflicts. For this edition, coauthors Martha Davis (psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry of Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Santa Clara, CA), Elizabeth Robbins Eshelman (licensed clinical social worker with Kaiser Permanente Online), and Matthew McKay (clinical director of Haight-Ashbury Psychological Services, San Francisco, CA) have added topics on worry control, anger management, and eye-movement therapy. New diagrams and a more reader-friendly format should appeal to readers, despite a few typos and graphical mishaps. This is a valuable tool for therapists, their patients, and the stressed-at-large. –Liane Thomas

5 Stars Excellent Book
I started with an older version of the book and then bought this version (newest). I found the worksheets to be extremely helpful. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to read it. It takes you step through step on how to help improve and change so you are in a better state of mind and functions.
4 Stars A Nice Collection of Techniques
I purchased this book, not realizing that it was the same book (just a newer version) that a therapist had once given me for a weekend. It’s a nice collection of stress and anxiety management techniques. I particularly like how the book emphasizes the fact that you should only do what works best for you and recommends you pick and choose those elements throughout the book, rather than necessarily reading the whole thing.
The first two chapters of the book are necessary for understanding basic stressors and their effects on your life. I thought the book did a nice job of summarizing recent understanding concerning stress and anxiety, as well as the importance of relaxation on physical and emotional health. By the end of the first two chapters, depending on how you’ve answered some of the questions in them, you are directed to specific chapters throughout the book that are most likely to benefit you.
I haven’t had enough time to sit down and try many of the techniques within, but it is clear that the book gives a whole range of relaxation styles and worksheets to help one accomplish the techniques. About the only thing I wish was different in the book is some of the recommended further reading lists. Given today’s world of new media/Internet resources, more of the further reading materials should be available online, at least in some fashion. Along the same lines, I think the book fails to recommend online support groups, which can be very valuable to users.
All in all, a great book and (from what I remember of the old version) filled with good updates. But, as with many self-help and textbooks, I am somewhat left with the wish that online options were at least mentioned/mentioned more.
5 Stars Empowering Workbooks to Create the Life You Want
These workbooks which promote active participation in the creation of the life you want are very empowering. Self-reflection and action to engage in meditation, positive thinking and creative visualization are incredible tools to not only relax, and deal with stress but also to create the joyful life we all want. This is an excellent book filled with an assortment of tools to do just this. Similar to another I have been using… the Living The Secret Everyday series including a workbook and meditation CD has brought powerful changes in my life.
5 Stars Learning Meditation as a way to relax
The Relaxation & Stress Reduction Woorbook - (New Harbinger Self-Help Woorkbook) My counsler suggested this workbook to me as I am going through tremendous stress right now and suffering from insomnia. I usually only get about 4 hours per night, and it had been that way for over 2 months. In the beginning of the workbook, they have a test that gives you a score to determine just how much stress that has been in your life over the past year. The highest number rating was 300. I scored over 1,000 !! The book begins very easy, teaching you to breathe and focus. I did this when I woke up at 2am in the morning when the house was quiet, and learned how to control my breathing. The book continues on to teach you how to meditate which is something I had never thought of. It works !! But, you have to be consistant and do the exercizes every day. I am not finished with the book yet, but I have already told my friends and family about it and should purchase it if they are going through a stressful period of time. I am glad my counsler told me about this workbook as now I can sleep all night using the breathing exercize’s before I go to sleep. 5 Stars on this one
5 Stars Excellent Source for Stress Reduction (with a critic)
I bought this book to be able to cope with stress situations that generated lot of somatic problems including the sudden rise of blood pressure. I found the help quite good, easy to follow, and directly to the point. In Chapter 1 you will find immediately the many causes of stress and a direct help on how to use the Workbook: depending on your symptoms a Table will show you which Chapters you should read. Each Chapter deals with one particular method, so that you know which methods are the most specific for your case. Each Chapter has a selected bibliography, so that if one Method is good for you, you can buy another book to go deeper in that method.
The only critic I have to point out is the following. There are 2 chapters written by external contributors (not the authors mentioned in the Front Cover); those Chapters are Nutrition (Chapter 19) and Exercise (Chapter 20). I found those chapters not so well adapted to the rest of the book. For example it is known that weight lifting is not recommended for high blood pressure, but in the chapter on exercise weight lifting is given as a possible exercise without mentioning if it could be bad for any particular problem. Concerning the chapter on Nutrition a similar problem arises. Good hints are given, but no particular categorization as to which type of diet to follow for a particular problem. Albeit of these critics, I do not wish to give less than 5 stars to this book, because it is an excellent tool and help, recommended to anyone suffering from stress related problems.

5 Stars Amazing Results!!!!!
All I can say is WOW! Our 5 month old daughter was not a very good sleeper. She would regularly wake up crying in the middle of the night, and we would have a very tough time getting her back to sleep. After we read this book and began “Ferberizing” her, she started sleeping through the night almost immediately! Now she regularly sleeps for 10 hours straight, even going for 13 hours one Saturday!! Now my wife and I can actually sleep in a little bit on the weekends, and are getting great sleep during the week. And best of all, our baby has never been happier. Because she is so well rested, her awake time is sooo much better! I highly recommend this book!
4 Stars Has some value
This method has value, makes sense and does work — mostly. But it is not the end-all be-all. I recommend this book; it can help. Nothing is “THE” solution, though
5 Stars learn everything about sleep
Get this book and learn everything about sleep problems. You don’t have to read the whole thing, but he covers it all. You could have just one issue, like our son, or a couple in combo. I bought this book when my son was struggling getting to sleep right around the time he was weaned. We were already doing all those nice routine things like the music and stories etc. What I didn’t know was none of these things had taught my son how to go back to sleep himself. He wanted to nurse back to sleep. This doctor had my answer! Don’t be afraid of this cry it out thing. My son learned to go to sleep and get back to sleep by himself in only a couple of days. So, all the fuss was about nothing as far as I’m concerned. I wish I had know this a lot earlier! It’s been at least a year and we’ve had no problems since. I’ve lent this book out and recommended it several times. Don’t be afraid of the cry it out hype-just get some sleep.
5 Stars Worked like a charm
My wife and I hadn’t slept in 15 weeks. Coincidentally we had a 15 week old baby who thought sleep was for losers. I had just read the Ferber book from cover to cover and decided enough was enough. The first night was painful. The 2nd night was a littly less painful. The 3rd night, my wife and I slept like a…well…a baby! Now our baby is 1 year old and has gone to sleep without problems every night except for a couple of times when he was sick. I highly recommend this book.
5 Stars I can’t believe it - it worked in 3 nights!!!
I never thought this would work for our baby, but after trying most of the other techniques - we felt we had to give it a try. Our baby is 6 months old, only sleeps in a swaddle blanket, only sleeps in a rocker chair (similar to a car seat), and was getting up at least twice per night to feed. The night he outgrew his rocker seat (by falling out of it) - we started Dr. Ferbers program. It was extremely tough the first night, but each waking he cried less and it became easier. After 3 nights (and I still have trouble believing this) - he slept without being swaddled, in the crib, from 8pm to 6am straight!!! It has now been 5 nights and he has slept right through 3 of them (the other 2 nights he woke up 1 or 2 times but was only up for 5 minutes at most).
I’m not sure if this will work for everyone, and I’m not sure what age it can start working. However, if you have a baby that is at least 6 months old and not sleeping through the night - I strongly recommend trying this!

5 Stars Great Strategies for Healthy Eating
This book is good for parents trying to covertly include healthy fruits and vegetables in their children’s diet. It is also very helpful for people looking to fortify their diets. We are primarily vegetarian but found many ways to fortify our diet including adding things like flax seed, wheat germ and ingredients high in anti-oxidants. This book can take you to the next level of nutritious eating no matter what level you are at currently. Highly recommend it!
4 Stars so far, so good.
I have been trying to add healthy food to my husband’s and kid’s meals for years. These recipes have really helped me to do it. There has only been a few items the kids won’t eat, but I don’t know if it has to do with the hidden veggies or if they are justy too picky. Side note: I don’t decieve my family. My seven year old saw the book on the counter and asked me what I was sneaking vegtables into. I could have followed the books advice and lied, but instead I told her “I want to add healthy foods to our meals. You won’t see it or taste it but it will help our bodies. Do you tink that is a good idea?” She agreed and has been knowly eating better ever since. Thanks!
5 Stars Absolutely love it!
I have made most of the dinner dishes in this book as well as half of the breakfast ones and there has not been one dish my boys and husband have not liked. It is a life saver!
5 Stars Should be called, “how to hide the veggies.” Fantastic.
I tried on my own to modify recipes for things my kids like to try and sneak in some veggies and fruits they are not so willing to eat. No luck. This book is fantastic. Easy to follow recipes and foods that come out looking and tasting great.
You kids won’t know they’re eating their veggies. It does take a little extra work since you need to have things pureed, but the results are worth the effort. (To make it so not so daunting, I puree in large quantities and freeze in amounts for 1-2 recipes.)
5 Stars Pleased…
It did take a while for this to reach me, but I have found a few recipies to use so far. Haven’t had a chance to really read the whole book, but the ones I read sound YUMMY!
